Dead in the night when the world slumbers,

The silence so thick, it deafens the ears,

I stand alone in front of my reflection,

Searching for a trace of me,

On the smiling mask of pitch black eyes.

But all I see in those dark endless pools,

A void of emptiness and nothingness alone,

Without a soul, without emotions,

I see a stranger staring back at me,

A stranger pretending to be me.

The mask I wear, the façade I put on,

For so long and so well, the mould I make,

Until I disappear, erased by the lie,

But now in the room, alone in the night,

Whom am I pretending to, where am I?

I’m trap inside with nowhere to run,

The walls are crushing down on me,

Painful memories clawing at my mind,

Haunted by the phantoms of the past,

Alone and tortured, I cannot breathe.

Where can I go, where can I hide?

What can I do, how can I fight?

When all the hurt and pain is inside,

And I look again in the stranger’s eyes,

And saw that the masquerade was for no one but me.
